Welcome to the AACDC Web Site!

Greetings:
As we reflect back on the many accomplishments of the AACDC, we must also begin to envision and shape in our minds the expectations of its future. The economy, with all its doom-and-gloom will, unfortunately, serve as a backdrop to many of our plans for years to come. A declining housing market will also help color many of our decisions and plans for the future. Yet, I am convinced that we will hold fast to the commitments we have made to the communities we serve. We will search out and find new and innovative ways of dismissing the dark clouds of despair that hover over many of the people we serve. We will work together, in bold and new collaborations, and truly usher in the new era of "yes we can". I am proud to say that the AACDC is firmly perched on the threshold of change here in the state of Alabama. Strategically, the AACDC is poised to move swiftly into new and challenging areas that CDCs have failed to explore in the past. We are mindful that work in the areas of health care, workforce development, and micro-lending has not been popular among CDCs here in Alabama. In order to remedy this, AACDC will work diligently to help fledgling CDCs become "viable, visible, and valuable" instruments of change in these areas and thereby meet the growing need for this form of support in our communities. AACDC remains firmly committed to giving voice to the needs of the people of Alabama. We encourage you to join us as we continue combining cutting edge technology with good old fashion concern and compassion. Together is better, Rev. John E. Whitfield President, AACDC |
